Miami, FL – November 27, 2021 – WYN 317 Gallery kicked off Miami Art Week with an epic opening reception for Adrian Avila’s “Astro Logos • Word of Light”. Avila’s studio practice is rooted in an exploration of the timeless self and its relation to the collective consciousness. It draws strongly on his experiences as a Cuban-American who lived different degrees of indoctrination throughout life relating to the expression of femininity, knowledge, and power. On Saturday night, 45 oil paintings and works on paper by Avila were on display for a packed house to enjoy, along with a performance exploring the distillation of movement and embodiment of relative stillness by Jessica Freites, aerial dancing by Melissa Rye, and fire dancing by Carla Lulic. Maison Marcel poured utterly delicious wines, Heineken provided cold brews, IRoll Sushi created custom sushi rolls for guests, and Colombian-born, Miami-based DJ, producer and recoding artist, Atomyard, played his organic and upbeat breed of house music.

The group celebrated the birthdays of the artist as well as the gallery’s owners/directors, Michele and Danelle Pino, with a cake depicting Adrian Avila’s artwork. “Astro Logos • Word of Light” is on display until January 8, 2022.
