Bakehouse Art Complex’s 35th Anniversary Fundraiser

Miami, FL – November 12, 2021 – On Friday, November 12, 2021, Bakehouse Art Complex hosted a multi-sensory evening of cultural consumption benefitting Bakehouse artists and programs and inaugurating its 35th anniversary season. The evening featured an intimate sit-down dinner under ceiba trees with a menu created by guest chef Mina Stone, author of “Lemon, Love, & Olive Oil” (2021) and operator and inspiration behind Mina’s at MoMA PS1.

The event featured an artist honorary committee which included Janine Antoni, Edwidge Danticat, Teresita Fernandez, Naomi Fisher, Dara Friedman, Iran Issa-Khan, Michele Oka Doner, Loni Johnson, Mette Tommerup, and Juana Valdes. The ten cultural practitioners were recognized for their work in elevating Miami’s profile as a global arts hub.

As part of the evening’s festivities, Bakehouse artists Maria Theresa Barbist, Tara Long, and Arsimmer McCoy showcased their musical, performative, and written talents. During the event, visitors were given the opportunity to view the organization’s three newest exhibitions: “Viewpoints: Expressions of an artist community”; “Ode to Bakehouse”; and “Fresh Goods for Sale.”
