West Palm Beach, FL – March 26, 2021 – Sparkling turquoise waters, marinas dotted with super-yachts, and a luxury lifestyle fitting of sun-seekers and jet-setters. Those are all things that the destinations of Greater Fort Lauderdale and Bermuda have in common. If that sounds like your type of vacation, Visit Lauderdale and the Bermuda Tourism Authority are combining their nautical strengths in a new partnership, “Go Where the Yachts Go,” designed to elevate both destinations’ covetable yachting lifestyle and boost tourism recovery.
Instead of competing, the destinations are reiterating the fact that vessels can leave one location and cruise to the other at different times of the year. Visit Lauderdale’s peak season is November through April, while Bermuda’s high season is May through October. Visitors will want to plan their trips around key boating and yachting events like the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) in October. And in April, some of the biggest names in professional sailing will participate in the Bermuda Sail Grand Prix presented by Hamilton Princess.
The partnership kicked off with a press conference at Boatyard in Fort Lauderdale alongside Denison Yachting, and virtually hosted by the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club in Bermuda, followed by joint appearances at multiple events at the Palm Beach International Boat Show. Leaders from both destinations visited the Windward VIP Club with Marine Industries Association of South Florida, toured Informa’s Sapphire private club, attended a reception aboard IYC’s newest fleet member Lady Michelle and hosted a cocktail party at the Gosling’s dockside tent—the official rum of Bermuda. With plans to host more joint events together over the next two years, both destinations seek to lure travelers to experience life on the water. Yacht or not, there’s plenty to explore in both destinations.
