Miami – April 29, 2020 – #WRECares, launched by Miami-based media agency World Red Eye’s Seth Browarnik and his loyal World Red Eye team members, is proud to partner with the Miami Marlins to help provide much needed supplies to the front line heroes during the COVID-19 crisis. The Miami Marlins donated nearly 1,000 pieces of clothing, including home and road jerseys, uniform pants and 100% cotton T-shirts to help seamstresses and designers who have transitioned their businesses to become mask makers and are working endlessly to produce masks for the South Florida community.

Through their joint efforts to battle the shortage of medical supplies and strike out the COVID-19 pandemic, #WRECares has assembled a network of 20-plus seamstresses and designers to create face masks. As a result, this donation will help fabricate over 7,500 more masks that will be distributed to medical facilities including the City of Miami Police Department and the University of Miami Health System.

Says Seth Browarnik, Founder of #WRECares, “When the COVID-19 crisis hit, I immediately pivoted my site WorldRedEye.com to become an informative hub and used my best asset – my vast network – to bring resources together and relief to those in need. During this time, it quickly became apparent that face masks were one of the most needed items on the front lines. I coordinated a team of designers and seamstresses to literally produce masks overnight. To date, our team has produced almost 5,000 masks in just over a week. We have been able to donate these masks to save lives.”

The Miami Marlins have taken seriously their role in the South Florida community during these unprecedented times, including working with local officials to establish a COVID-19 drive-thru collection site in the parking lots adjacent to Marlins Park, which is now accessible to residents 18 years of age and older by appointment. The Miami Marlins Foundation has also launched the Home Plate Meals Relief Fund – Marlins.com/ReliefFund – with an initial contribution of $100,000 to make a Marlins Impact in addressing urgent food security needs across the South Florida community due to COVID-19.

The Miami Marlins look forward to seeing this impact in action over the coming weeks through a variety of relief efforts. The organization has also made a $1 Million commitment to Marlins Park gameday staff for assistance with their disrupted wages during March and April, and implemented Billy’s Activity Zone – Marlins.com/HomeFun – on their website, offering enriching activities and tips for families and kids.
