YoungArts Celebrates Opening of Patty Suau Installation with Art Talk and Reception at Bay Parc
Miami, FL – February 19, 2020 – National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) in partnership with Aimco celebrated the opening of the interactive new art installation “Love Me/ Touch Me” by Miami-based artist Patty Suau (2003 YoungArts Winner in Visual Arts) at Parc Space at Bay Parc with a reception and art talk in collaboration with art membership program Commissioner.
YoungArts and Commissioner members, Bay Parc residents and guests enjoyed wine and hors d’oeuvres, and received a warm welcome from Bay Parc Community Manager Carlos Garibello and YoungArts Senior Director of Alumni Programming Lauren Snelling, followed by an art talk between Patty Suau and Dejha Carrington, YoungArts Vice President of External Relations and Communications as well as Commissioner Co-Founder.
The conversation introduced the audience to Suau’s new installation – on view to the public at Parc Space – and explored Suau’s artistic practice, ideas around love, self-love, well-being, connecting with varied audiences, ways to support artists and the arts community in Miami. Patty Suau’s work brings to life the beauty of intimate connection through playful vulnerability. With her installation “Love Me/ Touch Me,” she encourages everyone to experience and enjoy art and each other.
Viewers are invited to play and engage with the installation through prompts and instructions that reveal a fun, joyful and sensorial experience. Notable attendees of the evening included Carrie and John Copeland, Cristina Gonzalez, Geovanna Gonzalez, Jared McGriff, Najja Moon, Roshell Rosemond, Mikhaile Solomon, Anna Xiques, among others.
