A Tasting Journey Through the Chianti Classico: The Heart & Soul of the Antinori Family Wine Spectator Wine Seminar at Eden Roc Miami Beach
Miami Beach, FL – February 22, 2020 – Alessia Antinori, the 26th Generation of the famed winemaking family, lead a tasting journey of her family’s Chianti Classico wines and estates and shared the family’s history and passion for this celebrated region, including the creation of Tignanello. The Antinori Family history is a narrative about devotion to winemaking that is woven through nearly 635 years and 26 generations. Alessia, along with her sisters Albiera and Allegra, are the 26th generation now leading Marchesi Antinori – one of the longest running family businesses in the world. The Antinori family’s roots (and heart) are in the Chianti Classico in Tuscany. This not only dates back to 1385 when Giovanni di Piero joined the Winemakers Guild of Florence, but also to a monumental occasion in 1716, when Antonio Antinori led a Commission tasked by Cosimo III de’ Medici to define the geographical boundaries of the world’s first wine appellation: Chianti Classico. This forever linked the region to the Antinori family. The family continues to invest in the region with new vineyards and at the state-of-the-art Chianti Classico Winery they opened a few years ago, which is open to wine lovers around the world.
