An Evening of Chamber Music at The Dr. M. Lee Pearce Foundation, Inc.
Miami Beach, FL – January 23, 2020 – The Cleveland Orchestra held a private reception and chamber music performance at the Pearce Foundation Estate in Miami Beach to engage with classical music lovers from South Florida. This event was held in partnership with the Dr. M. Lee Pearce Foundation, and notable guests included Cleveland Orchestra in Miami Advisory Council Members Mary Jo Eaton, Joseph and Betty Fleming, and Michael and Judith Samuels; as well as members of the Board of Trustees and Staff for the Pearce Foundation —Also in attendance were Music Director Franz Welser-Möst and Cleveland Orchestra President & CEO André Gremillet.
After remarks from André Gremillet, a chamber music performance was given by Cleveland Orchestra musicians: Frank Rosenwein, oboe; Corbin Stair, oboe; Robert Walters, English horn; and Joela Jones, piano. This included the Pergolesi Suite for 2 Oboes and English Horn and Ravel’s Sonatine for Oboe and Piano. A reception followed the performance. “I want to thank the Dr. M. The Cleveland Orchestra is very proud to play an important role in this great community.” In January 2020, The Cleveland Orchestra, in partnership with the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, completed the 14th year of its Miami residency, which included concerts and education and community programming. Concerts took place across two weeks, featuring Music Director Franz Welser-Möst leading Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet (Acts III & IV), Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 2, and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5.
All concerts took place at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County’s John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall. The Adrienne Arsht Center has been the presenting partner of the Orchestra’s Miami concerts since the annual residency began in 2007.
