Surfside, FL – October 2, 2019 – The Bass invited supporters and Miami art world denizens to gather at The Surf Club at The Four Seasons in Surfside for a preview of the museum’s fall season and to celebrate the launch of the newly formed Bass Collective. The Bass Collective is a vibrant group of collectors and patrons whose commitment to the museum as donors fuels the museum’s boldest visions.Members of The Bass Collective enjoy an enriched relationship to both The Bass and the international contemporary art world with a year-round calendar of unrivaled cultural experiences.

Guests were welcomed by The Bass Executive Director Silvia Karman Cubiñá and Walker Cultural Principal Timothy Walker. Cubiñá gave attendees a preview of the museum’s dynamic upcoming season which includes new shows this fall from Haegue Yang, Lara Favaretto and Mickalene Thomas. The museum also announced its upcoming Collective international excursion to Marakessh in February 2020. Throughout the evening, guests sampled a lovely selection of Whispering Angel wines, craft cocktails along with culinary delights from Chef Thomas Keller. The reception was presented in partnership with The Surf Club Private.

About The Bass The Bass is Miami Beach’s contemporary art museum. Founded in 1964 by the City of Miami Beach, the museum was established after the donation of a private collection by residents John and Johanna Bass and opened in what was formerly the Miami Beach Public Library and Art Center, a 1930s Art Deco building designed by Russell Pancoast. Recognized for organizing the first solo museum exhibitions in the United States of international artists such as Erwin Wurm, The Bass has also presented major exhibitions by influential artists including El Anatsui, Isaac Julien, Eve Sussman and Piotr Uklański. The exhibition program encompasses a wide range of media and artistic points of view, bringing fresh perspectives to the diverse cultural context of Miami Beach.
