Miami Beach, FL – September 26, 2019 – Blind Barber has expanded beyond its New York, Los Angeles and Chicago roots with the opening of its newest barbershop by day/speakeasy-restaurant by night concept, inside the Nautilus by Arlo boutique hotel. Built in the heart of South Beach in the 1950’s, the iconic art deco hotel was the perfect location for Blind Barber to expand while growing its creative vision, this time with a nod to classic Miami glamour. The barbershop, located in the hotel’s lobby, possesses Blind Barber’s signature aesthetic. Three sleek white barber chairs keep the shop bright and intimate, while hexagon tile floors and hand-painted distressed metal paneling cover the walls for a vintage vibe. During the day, customers can enjoy services such as haircuts, shaves, and beard trims all served up with a complimentary beer or cocktail. In the evening, the “secret” entrance to the back room can be found beyond the barbershop chairs where guests can discover a sexy hideaway dressed to the nines in Miami Beach glam. The cocktail lounge is outfitted with green and pink velvet seating with terrazzo tables dotting the room. Copper walls and plush green curtains add sultriness, while a large projection wall adds animation.

“We have always said that our back rooms allow us to play around and evolve with design and feel. With Miami, the bar design plays into the historic glamour of Miami and its Art Deco DNA. Our inspiration also included New York staple Indochine, with lush plants taking over the space and pink pops of light and color to embrace the electric feel of the city,” said Josh Boyd, co-founder of Blind Barber. Cocktails such as the unique-to-Miami Collins Avenue and the Hot Heather — tequila, lime, ginger, pamplemousse and pineapple liquors served over ice, can be paired with Blind Barber’s gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. As for entertainment and the experience, Blind Barber partnered with Miami local/impresario Max Pierre, to cultivate a rotating roster of DJs and performers, to create unforgettable South Beach nights for both locals and visitors alike. Pierre, who started his career working on Miami Beach in nightlife, and then went on to help launch the NYC-based fashion label Public School, is partnering with Blind Barber to energize the Miami Beach nightlife scene. Pierre said, “Our plan is to help Miami Beach blossom a little bit more culturally, like its surrounding neighborhoods have, so it’s an exciting time for the area. It feels amazing to partner with Blind Barber and bring their unique style of hospitality to the place where I live and love.” In addition to the barbershop/speakeasy, Blind Barber has also partnered with Arlo to be their exclusive amenities provider across all properties, where large-format bottles filled with Blind Barber shampoo/bodywash and conditioner can be found inside each room and are available for purchase in the hotel’s Bodega.
