6th Annual Angels for Humanity Catwalk for Charity at JW Marriott Marquis Miami
Miami, FL – September 22, 2019 – Catwalk for Charity, the year’s most anticipated fashion fundraiser in South Florida returned for its sixth consecutive year! This prestigious annual event which boasts more than 400 guests, top designers, celebrities, tastemakers and philanthropists took place at the JW Marriott Marquis. The event was hosted by Angels for Humanity, a Florida-based nonprofit organization, that benefits impoverished children in Haiti granting access to quality education, medical, dental and vision care. This year’s Fashion Show was curated by PINKO featuring their bold, ready-to-wear looks and Go-To Celebrity Designer Gustavo Cadile, personal designer to celebrities including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Eva Longoria, Reese Witherspoon, and Kim Kardashian. The show closed with the Catwalk Angels adorned with feather creations by local designer Juan Pablo.
The event was hosted by Three-Time Emmy Award Winning News Anchor, Calvin Hughes. The Fashion Show Fundraiser commenced with a half-hour exclusive Red-Carpet VIP reception, which provided first access to the highly anticipated silent auction and cocktails portion of the event, as well as front row seats at the fashion show. Celebrity guests included actors Brian J. White currently on the Own’s network hit show Ambition, and Catherine Siachoque, who’s appeared in several Telemundo produced series. Singer, songwriter and producer, Jonathon Perry, aka J Perry, entertained the crowd with one of his hit songs. Other TV personalities included, Laurie Jennings who paid a heartfelt tribute to her friend and former co-anchor Calvin Hughes, and Real Housewives of Miami cast, Marysol Patton and Adriana de Moura. The event is the primary fundraiser hosted each year by Angels for Humanity which enables them to bring relief to more than 5,000 underprivileged children in Haiti. Support for the charity funds programs like their back-to-school distributions in October, and their medical mission trips in December. They also partner with various schools, including Prodev Elementary school, as well as“Nos Petits Freres et Soeurs” Hospital, Haiti’s only hospital for cancer-stricken children. “I was glad to have taken part in this mission trip and to see the smiles in the children’s faces, most of whom had never before seen a dentist.” Dr. Julio E. Hernandez, of Miami Cosmetic Dentistry, was one of the doctors who took part in their Dental Care Mission trip last December. The group provided dental care services and surgery to more than 400 children.
About Angels for Humanity Started in 2006 by a group of professional women who shared the same passion to make a positive change in the lives of children, Angels for Humanity is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that has grown to reflect the cultural diversity of our community here in South Florida. Our focus is education and health. We have partnered with various schools, including Prodev Elementary School in Cite Soleil and FHACI (Haitian Foundation Against Childhood Cancer.) Haiti is home to 11 million people, with children making up 54% of that number. Sadly, 64.3% of boys and 57.3% of girls are unable to read or write. We are committed to change those dire numbers.
