“Mucho, Mucho Amor: 50 Years of Walter Mercado” Exhibition Opening Celebration at HistoryMiami Museum

Miami, FL – August 1, 2019 – HistoryMiami Museum was filled with “mucho, mucho amor” as more than 400 of Miami’s city officials, socialites, media and influencers surrounded famed astrologer, Walter Mercado at the VIP opening of his exhibition titled “Mucho, Mucho Amor: 50 Years of Walter Mercado.” The crowd was entertained with a dramatic performance as dancers wearing Mercado’s famous capes cascaded down the stairwell and performed a majestic dance. Mercado himself appeared through gold sequins curtains to arrive in a chariot, sitting in a white velvet chair and waving to his adoring fans. Mayor of Miami Francis Suarez and Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins presented him a proclamation and declared August 1st, 2019, Walter Mercado Day. City of Miami Beach Vice Mayor Ricky Arriola and City Commissioner Michael Gongora gave Walter the Keys to the City of Miami Beach. The exhibition, funded by the Knight Foundation, runs through August 25 at HistoryMiami Museum.
