Frédéric Tcheng

Miami Beach, FL – May 14, 2019 – Faena Rose hosted famed acclaimed documentarian, Frédéric Tcheng, for an exclusive conversation and pre-release screening of his new film, Halston, about the life and legacy of iconic designer Halston and his 1970s fashion empire. Credited with redefining American fashion with his sleek, minimal designs that dominated celebrity disco culture, Halston grew his brand with unprecedented business ventures that ultimately caused the company to combust. Featuring interviews with Liza Minnelli, Naeem Khan, Pat Cleveland, and more, the film provides an intimate window into Halston’s forgotten genius and firmly reestablishes his pioneering legacy as America’s first celebrity designer.

Following the film, Frédéric discussed his creative process and past films, including the critically-acclaimed hit Valentino: The Last Emperor, which he co-produced and co-edited; Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel, which he co-directed; and his directorial debut, Dior and I, which was nominated for the Jury Award for Best Documentary Feature at Tribeca the year it premiered.

Rose members also experienced Halston’s art firsthand with an installation of his original designs created by Faena Bazaar exclusively for the event. Faena Rose is an exclusive, art and culture-based private members club at the Faena District Miami Beach, which brings together its dynamic community of likeminded individuals through a robust, year-round calendar of the most engaging and transformative cultural experiences.
