Empowered Women, Empower Women at El Cielo Brickell
Miami, FL – May 2, 2019 – In a quest to remind women of their inner-strength and the power of intentions, OndadeMar allied with Danié Gomez-Ortigoza, the creator of Journey of a Braid, launches a special edition of Canvas made out of left-overs of Onda de Mar’s collection as part of a zero-waste initiative. More than an accessory, Canvas is a Femenist Manifesto inspired by the Tehuana braid from Mexico.
Danié has been braiding her hair almost every day for the past 4 years, as a ritual, which begins by setting an intention to help another woman succeed. The written intention is carried inside the textile of the braid, and is ‘sealed’ as she ties the final knot.
Canvas reminds women that they have the power to paint their own reality, and that there is an invisible thread that unites them all, and can never be forgotten.
Through this alliance, Onda de Mar and Journey of a Braid will support Fashion4good, a philanthropic effort founded by Martha Graeff and Danié, of women united to support four major philanthropic organizations helping children in Venezuela. Ten percent of proceeds will be destined towards this cause.
The event was a sensory experience where Clau Collantes, a Peruvian soul DJ created a special mix, and Lisu Vega, a very established Venezuelan artist, presented one of her pieces made out of left overs from her fashion and art creations. Danié presented her first live performance titled ‘The Invisible thread’, given that her main intention is to remind women of the invisible thread that unites them all.
