Faena Rose Hosts Award-Winning Filmmaker Timothy Greenfield-Sanders for Pre-Release Screening of Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am
Miami Beach, FL – March 20, 2019 – Faena Rose welcomed award-winning filmmaker & photographer, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, for a pre-release screening and conversation on his new documentary, Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am, which explores the extraordinary life and artistry of legendary Nobel Laureate, Toni Morrison. Morrison is revered for bringing new thought to American literature through her numerous critically acclaimed works—including the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Beloved—her time as an editor of African American literature, and her role as an educator at Princeton University. The artful documentary weaves together a rich tapestry of art, history, literature, and personality through intimate interviews with Morrison herself, Oprah Winfrey, Angela Davis, and more, creating a beautiful homage to Toni’s monumental career, her far reaching influence, and the conversations her work continues to inspire.
Timothy Greenfield-Sanders is acclaimed for his portraits of world leaders and major cultural figures, which are included in the permanent collections of MoMA; the Whitney; the National Portrait Gallery; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Brooklyn Museum; and The New York Public Library; among many others. Timothy has also produced and directed an astonishing 13 films to date, for which he has accumulated numerous accolades, including a Grammy for his documentary, Lou Reed: Rock and Roll Heart. Timothy’s latest film, Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am, recently premiered at Sundance and will open in theaters this June.
