Arquitectonica Hosts Master Class & Critique for Emerging Designers at YoungArts Miami
Miami, FL – February 21, 2019 – The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) and Design Arts Discipline Partner Arquitectonica presented a master class, reception and critique for the 2019 YoungArts winners in Design Arts participating in YoungArts Miami, one of the organization’s regional programs offering interdisciplinary workshops, seminars and master classes with renowned leaders in their fields. Arquitectonica curated a curriculum for the day that included mentorship and a design charrette on innovative design for public urban spaces. While students finalized their projects, invited guests—including Massimo Casagrande, Samantha Gallacher, board member Rich Kohan, Arquitectonica’s Jacob Lenard, Jack Lowell, FIU Dean Brian Schriner and Renata Vasconez —enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and wine in the garden at the Arquitectonica headquarters in Coconut Grove. As the reception came to a close, Arquitectonica’s Bernardo Fort-Brescia, who recently joined the YoungArts Board of Trustees, invited attendees to join the final critique. YoungArts Board Chair Sarah Arison welcomed master teacher Chat Travieso (2003 YoungArts Winner in Visual Arts & U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts), winners and guests before opening the floor to the designers for their presentations and critique. The collaboration with Arquitectonica is a recent example of how YoungArts winners gain valuable mentorship and practical experience through YoungArts’ artistic and professional development programs.
