Hallandale Beach, FL – January 26, 2019 – The $16 million 2019 Pegasus World Cup Championship Invitational returned to Gulfstream Park last Saturday, as The Stronach Group presented North America’s richest race. The race was unlike any other, nearly 10,000 fans, celebrities, horse racing elites, Miami influencers, socialites, and more witnessed two championship races with City of Light, ridden by Hall of Fame Jockey Javier Castellano, claiming the $4 million first place finish for the Pegasus World Cup Invitational, and Bricks and Mortar, ridden by Eclipse Award-winning Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr., taking the first place $3 million purse for the inaugural Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational. In addition to a day of world-class Thoroughbred racing, the Pegasus World Cup delivered A-list entertainment as Belinda Stronach, Chairman and President of The Stronach Group, partnered for the second year with David Grutman for the Pegasus LIV Stretch Village. Headliners Snoop Dogg and Mark Ronson closed out the evening with show-stopping performances. Guests experienced Groot Hospitality’s Restaurant Row trackside featuring gourmet food and beverage offerings by Komodo, Bodega Taqueria y Tequila, LadyFingrs, Adena Grill and other local eateries. Completing its third year, the Pegasus World Cup Invitational cemented itself as one of the most anticipated weekends in South Florida perfectly combining sports, entertainment, and Miami hospitality.
