Christo

Miami Beach, FL – December 4, 2018 – Iconic artist Christo joined Faena Rose members for a pre-release screening followed by a Q&A of Walking on Water, which documents the creation of his most recent large-scale installation, The Floating Piers, on Italy’s Lake Iseo. Originally conceived in 1970 by Christo and his late wife and collaborator, Jeanne-Claude, the site-specific masterpiece was finally realized in 2016, almost a decade after her passing. An intimate journey into Christo’s world, the film is an unprecedented portrait of a man chasing a dream against the complex dealings that merge between art and state politics, engineering and logistical nightmares, and the sheer force of nature.

Christo and his late wife, Jeanne-Claude, have created some of the most visually breathtaking works of our time. Their work is included in the collections of the most prestigious museums around the world, and the exhibition Christo and Jeanne-Claude: Surrounded Islands, Biscayne Bay, Greater Miami, Florida, 1980-83 is currently on view at the Pérez Art Museum Miami. Faena Rose is an exclusive, art and culture-based private members club at the Faena District Miami Beach, which brings together its dynamic community of likeminded individuals through a robust, year-round calendar of the most engaging and transformative cultural experiences.
