Miami, FL – July 14, 2018 – Dr. Jordana Pomeroy, the Director of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU welcomed artists, gallerists and Miami’s cultural luminaries to the opening reception for two original exhibitions created by the Chief Curator, Dr. Amy Galpin — “Deconstruction: A Reordering of Life, Politics and Art” and “Connectivity: Selections from the Collection of the Frost Art Museum FIU.” Deconstruction showcases the work of twelve Miami artists: Eddie Arroyo, Zachary Balber, Frida Baranek, Christopher Carter, Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova, Yanira Collado, Gonzalo Fuenmayor, Pepe Mar, Glexis Novoa, Sandra Ramos, Jamilah Sabur and Frances Trombly. Connectivity presents recent artwork donations from the community and celebrates the permanent collection’s treasures, including rarely seen objects from the vault that have been collected over the past 40 years since the museum’s early years on the campus of Florida International University. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the new museum building which debuted in 2008, an architectural jewel-in-the-crown of Miami’s cultural landscape.
