AileyCamp Miami 10th Anniversary Celebration at Adrienne Arsht Center
Miami, FL – July 18, 2018 – Campers from the Adrienne Arsht Center’s AileyCamp Miami celebrated the 10th anniversary of the free program by revealing a 4,000 square foot quilt on the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall stage. The quilt revealed sketched images of campers with personal words they traced on their profile, capturing their poetic image of joy through the lens of self-discovery. For the past decade, AileyCamp Miami has strengthened the lives of 1,000 middle school students from Miami-Dade County Public Schools, opening their world to opportunities that go beyond the six-week program. AileyCamp Miami is produced by the Arsht Center, in partnership with Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, and provides free transportation, meals, dance wear and uniforms for all campers. AileyCamp Miami has been made possible with the leadership support of The Batchelor Foundation, with additional support provided by Green Family Foundation; The Miami Foundation; The Ware Foundation; The Children’s Trust; Miami-Dade County Mayor, Board of County Commissioners and the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs; Karen Bechtel; TriMix Foundation; Marian and David Rocker; GOYA Foods; The Israel, Rose, Henry & Robert Wiener Charitable Foundation; Friends of AileyCamp Miami, and the state of Florida/Department of State, Florida Division of Cultural Affairs/Florida Council on Arts and Culture, among other supporters.
