Miami Beach, FL – May 18, 2018 – Four-time Olympic medalist & fastest swimmer on the planet, Anthony Ervin, joined Faena Rose members for an insightful conversation on Ervin’s indisputably legendary career and unconventional path to becoming a captivating Olympic hero, moderated by Olympic Hall of Famer and fellow gold-medalist Rowdy Gaines. After winning his first gold medal as a teenager at the 2000 Sydney Games, Ervin retired from the sport and embarked on a journey that was part spiritual quest and part self-destructive bender. In 2012, after being away from the sport for over a decade, Anthony resumed his swimming career and made history at the 2016 Rio Games, where at age 35 he became the oldest swimmer to ever win gold in an individual race. The “rebel Olympian” shared how he rose to the top of his sport, crashed, and found redemption with tales of battling identity labels, auctioning his gold medal for charity, Zen temples, motorcycles, and rock ‘n’ roll along the way. Following the talk, Anthony & Rowdy continued the conversation during an intimate dinner with Rose members at La Cava, Faena Hotel’s private dining room. Faena Rose is an exclusive, art and culture-based private members club at Faena District Miami Beach, which brings together its dynamic community of likeminded individuals through a robust, year-round calendar of the most engaging and transformative cultural experiences.
