The Last Jimmy Performance at Adrienne Arsht Center

Miami, FL – January 12, 2018 – The Last Jimmy is a poignant stage play which explores mass incarceration and shines a light on the ills of the criminal justice system and the prison industrial complex. Guests attended the Adrienne Arsht Center, for a hip-hop musical odyssey featuring song, live music and dance, this production follows the plight of the last Black man left to be imprisoned by a court and prison system stacked against young men of color. The Last Jimmy was created by 5-time Grammy nominated rapper Dice Raw of The Roots, inspired by Dr. Michelle Alexander’s book, The New Jim Crow. The Last Jimmy features original music and lyrics by Dice Raw — directed and written by Phillip S. Brown.
