Art Basel Kick Off Celebration with Rafael Soriano & Continental Abstraction at The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU

Miami, FL – November 4, 2017 – Jordana Pomeroy, Director of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum, welcomed national and international museum leaders, artists, cultural luminaries and collectors to the opening of two stellar exhibitions at the at Frost Art Museum FIU – Rafael Soriano: The Artist as Mystic and Continental Abstraction: Highlights from the Art Museum of the Americas. The Soriano exhibition is an unprecedented retrospective of the Cuban Master featuring more than ninety of his paintings and drawings. This national tour culminates in the artist’s hometown of Miami, where he created some of his most acclaimed works after seeking exile in the U.S. The Continental Abstraction examines the wide spectrum of social, cultural, and artistic concerns of countries across Latin America. The exhibition includes more than 40 works by 30 plus artists from 20 different countries. The works are drawn from the collection of the Organization of American States (OAS) Art Museum of the Americas (AMA), based in Washington, DC.
