Miami, FL – August 21, 2017 – The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Downtown Miami’s Museum Park hosted a special solar eclipse watch party on their Science Plaza for over 8,500 visitors. The museum distributed complimentary solar eclipse glasses to guests with museum admission. Museum ambassadors and astronomy staff were on hand throughout the museum showing guests how to view the eclipse with the special glasses and solar telescopes, including a DIY pinhole projector work station. District Marketing Manager for the United States Postal Service, Juan Nadal, dedicated the first-of-its-kind Total Eclipse of the Sun Forever stamp to the museum which was available for purchase at the Science Store. Throughout the afternoon, guests got a glimpse of the eclipse through solar telescopes on Science Plaza, the sixth-floor rooftop terrace and on monitors inside the museum live streaming NASA’s Eclipse Megacast. The watch party was the museum’s largest attendance day on record since its opening in May 2017.
