The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU’s Second Annual Benefactor Impact Celebration “Art Transforms 2017” Honors Dennis Scholl
Miami, FL – May 13, 2017 – Dr. Jordana Pomeroy, the director of the Frost Art Museum FIU, welcomed guests to the museum’s second annual Benefactor Impact event “Art Transforms 2017” honoring arts champion and philanthropist Dennis Scholl, along with the museum’s patrons Patricia and Phillip Frost, FIU Provost Dr. Kenneth Furton, and the museum’s Board Chair Daniel Perron. Honoree Dennis Scholl spoke passionately about how this was his very first museum experience 40 years ago when he was a student at FIU (the same year the museum was founded, in 1977), and how the museum at Florida International University transformed his life forever that day. The event drew Miami’s leading art patrons and cultural leaders, including: Joan Johnson, celebrity chef Michael Schwartz and his wife Tamara, Lisa and Gary Payton, Eric and Tonya Eisenberg, Amy and Richard Kohan, Fred Snitzer, Ed Christin, Lourdes Tuleda, Karen Weiner Escalera, Cameron Basden, Ellen Salpeter, Lorie Mertes and Alex Gartenfeld. Guests joined Debra and Dennis Scholl, recognized nationally as leading collectors and philanthropists, on exclusive tours of the museum’s collection vault led by the museum’s curator Klaudio Rodriguez and the curator of education Miriam Machado.
