YoungArts Week Exhibition Opens Through January 29
Miami, FL – January 13, 2017 – From January 8 – 15, the National YoungArts Foundation presented its signature program National YoungArts Week, where 163 of the country’s most promising artists across 10 disciplines, performed, exhibited their work, and participated in master classes with internationally recognized leaders in their field, including choreographer and dancer Bill T. Jones, celebrated photographer Sylvia Plachy, and actress Olympia Dukakis, among others. Each evening, audiences experienced the work of the next generation of artists. On Friday, the Design Arts, Photography and Visual Arts Finalists presented their work in an exhibition curated by Pérez Art Museum Miami Director Franklin Sirmans in the YoungArts Gallery and YoungArts Jewel Box. The exhibition opening brought the artists, their families, YoungArts alumni, creatives, supporters, community leaders and art enthusiast together on the YoungArts Campus. Notable attendees included YoungArts President and CEO Carolina García Jayaram, Sarah Arison, Franklin and Jessica Sirmans, Terry Soriano Zucker, curators Robert Chambers, Tami Katz-Freiman and Carol Jazzar, artists and YoungArts master teachers Derrick Adams, Loni Jones and Naomi Fisher, as well as acclaimed writer and YoungArts master teacher Edwidge Danticat.
