Renowned Contemporary Artists Pop-Up during Miami Art Week at EAST, Miami
Miami Beach, FL – December 1, 2016 – Harif Guzman and Domingo Zapata, two celebrated artists each hosted a private exhibit and party at EAST, Miami, a lifestyle hotel and residence at Brickell City Centre. At Guzman’s show, co-hosted by Brittny Gastineau, he unveiled Achilles Armor- Legend of a Mothers Love, inspired by his passion and interest for Greek mythology. The show reflected the personal relationship and synergy between the artist and his own mother, Rosie Mclelland, who was by his side the entire night and showcased one of her very own pieces. In mythology, the sea nymph Thetis speaks to her son Achilles when he called to her in prayer. She reached out to Gods like Zeus and Hephaestus for favors to build a special Armor for Achilles. The intention of this tribute is to illustrate the unbreakable bond between a parent and a child. Guzman’s work will be on display at EAST, Miami’s 1,050 square foot Art Room on the hotel’s 7th floor through December 4, 2016, for locals and visitors alike.
Simultaneously, Art on Rivington co-hosted an exhibit at The Crush at EAST, Miami for famed artist Domingo Zapata. Zapata greeted all of his friends and guests and showed them some of the latest pieces from his collection. Zapata states, “It’s my heritage and I represent the shine and passion of the art in the fight experimenting with diamond dust and glitter.” The room was filled with eclectic and beautiful guests, including high profile celebrities, artists, collectors and tastemakers. Guests enjoyed cocktails courtesy of Pernod Ricard and DJ Spinser Tracy set the vibe for the night. Select VIPs were then escorted to the 40th floor for a private after party and pop up by New York City’s JIA lounge featuring the striking and always stylish DJ Elle Dee, a fixture of New York’s coveted downtown nightlife scene.
