Miami City Ballet Celebrates Open Barre & Give Miami Day
Miami, FL – November 17, 2016 – Miami City Ballet hosted their first Open Barre of the season which featured legendary ballerina Patricia McBride in conversation with MCB Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez. The behind-the-curtain performance experience took place at MCB’s studios on Miami Beach – the evening began with a beautiful “open bar” cocktail hour sponsored by Absolut Elyx and the MCB dancers blew the audience away with their glorious dancing, energy and warmth. There was tremendous excitement in the building as Open Barre also coincided with Give Miami Day – with the generous support of MCB’s loyal patrons and members and a bonus pool match from The Miami Foundation and sponsors, MCB more than quadrupled their previous fundraising goal – all to support their groundbreaking program BALLET BUS that provides free bus transportation and full tuition scholarships for up to ten years per child. Following the performance, the enthusiasm around Give Miami Day and Open Barre continued as MCB members had the opportunity to attend a private post show reception on the rooftop at the Vintro Hotel. Guests enjoyed wine and divine hors d’oeuvres created by Vintro’s chef, Jose Gonzales. MCB’s Director of Development, Eva Silverstein, gave remarks which began with an overwhelming thank you to all of the donors who supported MCB on Give Miami Day and helped the organization to raise $130,480! Ms. Silverstein thanked MCB’s neighbor and community partner, Vintro Hotel, for generously sponsoring the post show reception and thanked MCB’s Executive Director, Michael Scolamiero, for leading the charge. Notable guests at the reception included MCB Board Member Margot and Allen London and all of MCB’s talented dancers.
