Miami, FL – June 25, 2016 – BYJOVE launched their inaugural collection Chapter I “From The Outside Looking In” with a look inside the mind of designer, Tyler Jove. The exhibit featured caged in displays with full looks hanging, just close enough to see by barley out of reach. The designer also featured a pop-up store in the event space for all patrons to be able to get their hands on the collection. Be sure to act quick as this collection is being produced in ednaooklyn, New York in very limited quantities.
World Red Eye caught up with designer Tyler Jove, who gave us a closer look into what made him want to start his own label, and what we can expect from BYJOVE in the future.
WRE: How did you first get your start in design?
TJ: My design world came to fruition after an amazing opportunity fell into my lap. I was invited by a close friend of mine, Jenke Ahmed Tailly, to work on Emiliano Rinaldi’s collection during Pitti Uomo in Florence.
WRE: Tell us about how your label, BYJOVE, first started?
TJ: Growing up I would always alter all of my clothes; there was always something missing or an alteration that each garment needed, and I would say that the clothes were designed by me once I was finished with them.
WRE: What made you come up with the cage displays when presenting your latest collection?
TJ: One of the most difficult parts of this journey has been trying to get the vision in my mind down on paper and then produced. So the idea behind the cages were to give a glimpse into my mind and my vision. All the designs are floating around in my head just waiting to be produced.
WRE: What set’s your brand/look apart from others in the game?
TJ: The main idea behind the brand is that the clothes are designed BYJOVE, but once you purchase them they’re by you because everyone has their own style and way they like to wear things. Other than that, most brands get stuck in one style and you know what your getting from them. BYJOVE’s an open book, Chapter I focuses on essentials but Chapter II will be completely different stay tuned.
WRE: Tell us about some of the favorite fabrics you use? Why do you like to work with these?
TJ: We sourced this really interesting fabric from Japan that’s a cotton linen blend, very lightweight perfect for that summer heat. It will be dropping in a couple weeks, don’t sleep on em’!
