South Florida Design Park 2016 Spring Market
Miami, FL – February 25, 2016 – South Florida Design Park [SFDP], Florida’s new design destination, celebrated SFDP Spring Market with a day of design seminars, author lectures, book signings and a fashion presentation directly from NYFW with a special pop-up boutique. The SFDP Spring Market 2016 was produced by mkarte. The SFDP Media Kiosks at J Nelson and Stark Carpet provided copies of Architectural Digest, Veranda, Cultured, Flaunt, Quest, Florida Design, Bal Harbour and Venice magazines.
J Nelson
J Nelson and John Hall Nelson continued the ‘Decorators’ Library Lecture Series’ with Pamela Fiori, who presented “Tantalizing, Luxurious and Legendary Destinations”, a talk based on four books she authored for Assouline Publishing on Capri, St. Barths, Palm Beach and Monte Carlo. This was followed by a Q&A where Ms. Fiori expanded on her four decade career in magazine publishing when she was Editor in Chief of Travel & Leisure and Town & Country. She signed and remarked copies of her books, and was joined by Miami writer Tom Austin who who signed copies of his book, The Surf Club, also from Assouline, with Foreword by Ms. Fiori.
Jerry Pair
Jerry Pair presented Sachin & Babi’s Spring/Summer 2016 Collection directly from the runways of New York Fashion Week. Jill Sauer, Director of Jerry Pair Florida welcomed guests and designer Sachin Ahluwalia. To a standing room only crowd, the high paced high energy show included 32 looks, ranging from simple tops and skirts to cocktail dresses and evening ensembles. Textiles were as diverse as the collection itself: frothy white eyelet, printed chiffon, bold floral prints, many adorned with appliqué, beading and embroider. Following the show Ahluwalia spoke about the collection and introduced guests to Ankasa, his home interiors collection. He then invited guests to experience his fashion first hand at Jerry Pair’s Pop-Up S&B Boutique, which included selections edited by Sasha directly from his Madison Avenue flagship boutique.
Stark
Stark hosted a lecture, luncheon and book signing with Chad Stark, who presented “Knowledge is Power when Information is Everywhere: How to Thrive in the New Design Economy”. An industry leader and insider, the young and energetic Stark addressed how technology is changing designer – client collaborations, and how designers can expand their business in an ever evolving industry. He also discussed “Decorating with Carpets“, a book he co-authored with Ashley Stark Kenner. The lecture was followed by a luncheon where Stark visited with guests and signed and remarked copies of his book.
Judith Norman Now
Judith Norman Now and Mitchel Fine hosted a grand finale sunset soirée honoring interior design legend. businesswoman, and author Alexa Hampton. Guests enjoyed cocktails and endlessly flowing Champagne as they previewed Hampton’s designs for Hickory Chair and Visual Comfort. Hampton signed and remarked copies of her book “Decorating in Detail“. Hampton, a true legend in the world of interior design and known for her larger than life sense of humor, along with Mr. Fine, who loves sharing jokes in a deep voice whisper visited with and entertained guests and exchanged a few stories among themselves as the sunset through the western windows of Judith Norman and Spring Market came to a close.
SFDP Collective
Earlier in the day Snaidero’s Carlos Bustinza welcomed guests with conversation on today’s latest kitchen trends. Scalamandre’s Creative Director Susan North presented “Endless Summer”, a collection of indoor-outdoor high performance textiles. Robert Allen hosted “Custom without the Chaos” an interactive talk featuring HGTV persona Steven Favreau, Steven Turner Showroom, Jerry Pair and J Nelson also presented “Meet the Manufacturers and Artisans” with Justin Van Breda London, Austin Kerr, Dessin Fournir Companies and Cameron Collection. Window Designs by Sonia held demonstrations throughout the day on how to control your home environment through modern electronic devices, while Florida Blinds and Drapery offered all day mini spa treatments.
