Miami, FL – March 17, 2016 – With the artistic vibes of Wynwood as the backdrop for first time, the fall/winter season of Funkshion: Fashion Week Miami Beach got off to an amazing start. The day began with a spirited show by the design students of Miami International University under the fearless direction of Charlene Parsons and the dedicated instructors, Miami got a first hand glimpse into the future of the fashion industry. Keeping with the theme of industry, The Fashion Group International (r) of South Florida hosted a “Designed in Miami” panel featuring internationally renowned fashion designers based in Miami, who shared their insights on Miami as a fashion capital and what it takes to thrive in the rapidly changing environment. Pamela Fuertes, Vice President of Beacon Council moderated the discussion with Alessandra Gold – Creative Director of Kruzin, Simonett Pereira – Founder and Creative Director of Style Mafia and Fabrice Tardieu – Founder and Designer at Fabrice Tradieu. The designers shared their success stories and explained how to effectively design and produce in Miami, and how to leverage the city as a backdrop for all things fashion, while building a sustainable business. HSI Professional glammed everyone up for the day, making sure they looked picture perfect down the runway.
