Miami City Ballet Celebrates Ballet Bus Outreach Program

Miami Beach, FL – December 8, 2015 – Miami City Ballet hosted a private reception at their state-of-the-art facility on Miami Beach in honor of MCB’s groundbreaking outreach program, Ballet Bus. The remarkable program supports long-term scholarships for children throughout Miami-Dade County Title 1 Schools. Presented in partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Ballet Bus launched in September of this year, and will now follow each dance student for ten years of scholarship study at Miami City Ballet School. The reception was attended by Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, who called Ballet Bus “a miracle” for these young children from underserved communities. MCB philanthropic supporters, ambassadors, and VIPS joined Executive Director Michael Scolamiero, Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez and Miami City Ballet School Director Darleen Callaghan for an afternoon of dance – including some impressive participation in ballet class by Superintendent Carvalho.
