Miami, FL – November 6, 2015 – Gallery Diet opened its new permanent gallery with two dynamic exhibitions: Nicolas Lobo’s A Modulor Broth (inside) and Trees of Oolite, an outdoor group art and design exhibition including Jim Drain, June14, Mimi Jung, Emmett Moore, Jonathan Gonzalez/Office GA Architecture, Jonathan Nesci, Snarkitecture, Katie Stout. Designed by New York firm Charlap Hyman & Herrero, the new space will accommodate the gallery’s growth and continue its mission of presenting exhibitions by an international mix of contemporary artists and designers. The inaugural exhibition at the new Gallery Diet is Nicolas Lobo’s A Modulor Broth– on view from November 6 through November 23. The solo exhibition of gallery artist Lobo, who also has a solo exhibition at the Pérez Art Museum Miami, will continue his investigation of the porous boundary between the body and the chemical makeup of consumer objects. The panels in A Modulor Broth find the body in crisis; they either respond to trauma or therapy. In the courtyard garden is Trees in Oolite, the gallery’s first exhibition of outdoor furniture, lighting, and design objects. Set within a Floridian landscape that includes mango, oak, and avocado trees, pieces by leading designers and artists radiate a rough-hewn, tropical brutalism. Gallery artist Emmett Moore will contribute the stenography of the show, a minimal geometric composition. Participants list: Jim Drain, June14, Mimi Jung, Emmett Moore, Jonathan Gonzalez/Office GA Architecture, Jonathan Nesci, Snarkitecture, Katie Stout.
