WeWork Celebrates New Miami Beach Location with Weeklong Festivities
WeWork, Miami’s latest community of creators, hosted a series of fun and inspiring events in celebration of its new Miami Beach location at 350 Lincoln Road on Washington Avenue. The week included a series of formal and informal events that served as a preview of ongoing weekly programming one could find at the new Miami Beach location. WeWork is globally recognized for its innovative approach to shared workspace, providing members with the space and community they need to make a life, not just a living.
PERSPIRE TO INSPIRE
The week kicked off with “Perspire to Inspire” on Monday, where guests got to start the week off right by participating in a wellness workshop that included a yoga class, Flybarre Power Lunch Fitness Class, a creative meditation and hypnosis, Exhale Spa pop-up with acupuncture and massage chairs and a tea den with Jojo Tea.
LUNCH & LEARN
On Tuesday there was a Lunch & Learn panel that focused on innovation and technology and how the industry continues to expand in Miami. The discussion, moderated by Christopher Sopher (The New Tropic), included panelists Will Weinraub (Live Ninja), Mike Rodriguez (eMerge Americas), John Stuart (FIU Makerbot Lab), Johanna Mikkola (Wyncode), Brian Breslin (Refresh Miami) and discussed Miami’s influence on the technology industry and what future endeavors are in store for the city. A taco station was provided by Taquiza, a traditional Mexican taqueria crafting authentic tacos and street fare located in Miami Beach, followed the panel.
WORK OF ART
The day concluded with “Work of Art” Cocktails & Conversations panel discussion, which took a deeper look into the Miami Art Scene, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow and how art affects the workspace, moderated by Esther Park (National YoungsArts Foundation). Panelists included Books Bischof (Primary Projects), Tommy Pace (ICA), Kathryn Mikesell (Collector and Founder of Fountainhead Residency), as well as local artists Benjamin Hollingsworth and Jillian Mayer. Hollingsworth’s interpretation of the modern day workspace entitled “New Skin” was also unveiled on Tuesday.
CREATING YOUR PERSONAL BRAND
On Wednesday, guests were treated to complimentary Glamsquad makeovers and Junior and Hatter hot shaves. Followed by a “Creating Your Personal Brand” panel, hosted by inspiring and influential individuals across multiple platforms in Miami and moderated by Alan Philips (Senior VP, Brand Experience,WeWork). Panelists included Miguel McKelvey (Co-Founder, WeWork), Lee Brian Schrager (Founder, South Beach Wine and Food Festival), Matthew Chevallard (Founder, Del Toro Shoes), Simonett Pereira (Founder, Style Mafia) and artist Alex Mijares. Guests of the panel had the opportunity to listen to the panelists about their journey through creating their own brand and the impact of the digital world.
WEWORK HOUSE PARTY
After a week of inspiring events, guests got to let loose at the WeWork House Party hosted by Peachfuzz on Thursday, where they jammed out to 90s hip-hop by DJ Pase Rock, Keen One, Lolo Reskin and enjoyed local food favorites by YardBird as well as handcrafted cocktails by The Broken Shaker. There were plenty of brown paper bags for beer, red solo cups and shots of tequila upon arrival.
The weeklong series featured food and libations provided by Absolut Elyx, The Broken Shaker, YardBird, Taquiza, Duvel Beer, Perrier, JoJo Tea, Pubbelly Sushi and Pernod-Ricard.
