I Will Make You A Star: The New Gold Series at +598 Gallery
Miami, FL – October 8, 2015 – Jose Frances, founder and curator of +598 Gallery, proudly presented a one night only, single artist Pop-Up event featuring the iconic work of the creative duo Hunter & Gatti. Building up on the success of their “I Will Make You A Star” Red Series, this creative duo introduced the “Gold Series” with never seen before pieces. Fashion has always been flirting with art, a trend that has grown considerably over the last years and continues to increase at a fast pace. “I Will Make You A Star” is the latest series of works by Hunter & Gatti that reflects their desire to bring together photography and painting in one format. “I Will Make You A Star” is paying tribute to the neo-expressionism of Jean-Michel Basquiat by merging the celebrity portraits from their catalogue raisonné of fashion campaigns and editorials, with Basquiat’s paintings. The celebrities are left hidden behind the layers of painting, but at the same time the viewer is left perplexed by the new faces that have emerged – and it’s this very contradiction that makes Hunter & Gatti’s artworks unique. The show featured a selection of the artists’ celebrity portraits including Elizabeth Olsen, Pharrell Williams, Toni Garrn, Diane Kruger and Elizabeth Banks, among others. While browsing the works, guests enjoyed sips by Crown liquor stores, deserts from Sweet Shoppe and went home with gift bags by Kiehls.
