Isabella Ramos, Kerry Pieri, Iman Hasan, Shira Suveyke, & Ivian Sarcos
Miami Beach, FL – June 17, 2015 – There’s nothing better than getting all dolled up and enjoying a morning of good eats and talking all things fashion. Cecconi’s ever popular Fashion for Breakfast series was at it again last week, bringing out Kerry Pieri, Digital Fashion & Features Director at Harper’s BAZAAR, and Shira Suveyke, VP of Global Buying at TheOutnet.com for an intimate conversation. Guests listened in as moderator Iman Hasan guided the ladies through a chat about high summer trends, as well as a presentation showcase of 17 exclusive, limited-edition designer pieces that are available on The Outnet this June.
Before the chat, World Red Eye caught up with Kerry Pieri who gave us an inside look as to what her position at the magazine is like, as well as some of the latest trends we can expect for this upcoming summer season.

Miami does a great job of mastering summer trends, but I think it’s really all about light fabrications.

WRE: Being the Digital Fashion & Features Director at Harper’s BAZAAR is a dream job for many in the fashion industry, how did you get your start?
KP: Originally I started out in broadcast and prior to this position at Harper’s BAZAAR I was the editorial director of StyleCaster, a fashion based start up. StyleCaster was a great place to begin because it allowed me to get my foot in the door and get to know how the industry works, as well as establish some great contacts. Both jobs really helped give me a varied media background and establish a great foundation for my digital fashion & features position. Digital media is always different, one minute you are interviewing someone the next minute you are helping style a shoot or creative directing. I wear a lot of hats so I think that I accidentally set myself up perfectly for this position.

WRE: What are some major trends we can expect this Summer?
KP: Miami does a great job of mastering summer trends, but I think it’s really so much about light fabrications. The off-the-shoulder look is huge right now. I think crochet and lace just look really beautiful and are something you need to invest in, you know, cheap lace is never going to work. The 70’s trend is still going strong; anything flowing and has some air beneath it can really make you look glamorous. As far as swim trends, I think the maillot is still going strong. It’s very flattering and designers are having a lot of fun with it.

WRE: Describe your personal style in 3 words.
KP: I would say that my style is streamlined, fun, and creative.
WRE: Putting all seasons aside, what are some staple items every girl needs to have in their closet?
KP: I think it’s important to have a pair of jeans that you love and a jacket. The jacket doesn’t need to be a blazer, but one that you feel really great in. A blouse will take you miles. I’m a huge proponent of the white t-shirt, as well as one dress that you really can wear anywhere.

WRE: You recently did a piece on this, but can you tell us a bit more on how one can take the perfect ‘fashion vacation Instagram’?
KP: It was a little tongue in cheek, but was meant to be light-hearted and funny. Instagram does seem to be taking over, and as some would say, you’re only as good as your Instagram. But you know, I think in all good fun it starts with the look, and once you’re in a beautiful location, just really try and capture that with as much fun and creativity as you can. Of course, you also make sure to get your good angles.
WRE: How many vacation Instagram’s are too many?
KP: I think it’s important to not do more than one ‘selfie’ a day. People are going to start to hate you haha.
Ivian Sarcos
WRE: What’s your must-have travel accessory?
KP: A hat. I have this one, it’s a baseball hat that says “love” backwards on it and it’s taken me so far because you can pack it everywhere, and is always helpful when you need to cover your face.
