“My Paris Dream” by Kate Betts Intimate Lunch at Makoto at Bal Harbour Shops

Miami, FL – June 3, 2015 – In celebration of Kate Betts’ new book, “My Paris Dream,” Lara Shriftman and Sarah Harrelson hosted a lunch at Makoto Bal Harbour. Guests were invited to bring their mentor or mentee to join Betts in celebrating the book launch. The on-demand, app-based beauty provider, GLAMSQUAD, treated guests with hair and makeup appointments to get ready with their mentor or mentee before the lunch. During the lunch, Betts thanked hosts Sarah Harrelson and Lara Shriftman, calling Lara her “reverse mentor” during her time as Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar and joking about the many requests she made. She shared a story of her days as a junior reporter at Women’s Wear Daily, where she watched designers walk in and out for interviews. She always asked designers where their highest grossing store was and time after time they responded Bal Harbour Shops. This always intrigued her, as she was a young woman in Paris who did not know what Bal Harbour Shops was. Betts finished her remarks by saying “I finally made it to Bal Harbour Shops,” and giving the mentees at the lunch a word of advice. Each guest received a gift bag courtesy of Chanel with a Chanel makeup book including six signature Chanel products including nail polish, mascara, eye shadow, foundation, blush and lip gloss as well as a copy of Betts’ “My Paris Dream.”

Following the lunch, Books & Books hosted a book signing on Bal Harbour Shops’ third level. “My Paris Dream” is a charming and insightful memoir about coming of age as a fashion journalist in 1980s Paris. Kate Betts captivatingly brings to life the enchantment of France and magically re-creates that moment in life when a young woman discovers who she’s meant to be.
