WAVES: En Plein Air: Diamond Princess (Jacolby Satterwhite x Trina x TOTAL FREEDOM) at PAMM
Trina
Miami, FL – April 30, 2015 – Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) debuted a new film by video artist Jacolby Satterwhite featuring Miami-based rapper Trina titled, “En Plein Air: Diamond Princess.” The film dissolved into a series of Trina music video clips and culminated with a live outdoor performance by the rapper. Trina hyped the crowd with a series of her greatest hits like “That’s My Attitude,” “Da Baddest Bitch” and “Pull over.” Satterwhite’s film, inspired by his mother’s drawings of weaponry, armor, architecture and clothing, starred Trina as a feminist and capitalist “Diamond Princess.” The PAMM and Borscht Corp. commissioned film was rendered in a 3D software to create a Surrealist and abstract experience, accompanied by a remixed soundtrack by DJ and producer TOTAL FREEDOM. The event was part of PAMM’s WAVES series, a time-based art initiative that features a series of commissioned, collaborative performances by musicians, visual artists and filmmakers. WAVES brings together international musicians and artists in a variety of fields to create distinct, multi-sensory experiences.
