Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science Launches M.A.R.S.: Men Advocating Real Science Fundraising Initiative
Miami, FL – April 6, 2015 – The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science and Honorary Chairmain Isadore ‘Izzy’ Hecht Havenick hosted a breakfast at the Coral Reef Yacht Club to launch an exciting philanthropic initiative, M.A.R.S.: Men Advocating Real Science. The program is supporting the new museum, currently being built in downtown Miami’s Museum Park. M.A.R.S. is a pioneering, new men’s philanthropy group that will champion the importance of science and technology education within the South Florida community. The mission of M.A.R.S. is to raise 1 million dollars by bringing 200 men together. Each participant will pledge $5,000 or more in support of the new Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science. The breakfast launch included a presentation by special guest speaker Dr. Ashitey Trebi Ollennu, a robotic engineer for the InSight Mars Mission Instrument Deployment System at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Founding M.A.R.S. members, including David W. Bianchi, David Schwedel, Sergio Akselrad, Cole Brockway, and Ted Caplow, were in attendance to support the launch of the new initiative. Together, M.A.R.S. men will collectively promote awareness for the new museum’s Space Science exhibits and programs in development while also building momentum towards the opening of the new Museum.
