World Red Eye Honors 13 Years of Mynt
Miami Beach, FL – February 26, 2015 – There’s nothing like the feeling of letting ones hair down, letting all inhibitions go on the dance floor. Here at World Red Eye, it’s our job to capture this energy that has made Miami one the world’s biggest nightlife destinations. Over the years, we’ve seen the ebb and flow of the nightlife culture, the trends come and go, but one thing that has been a constant in this ever changing subculture is a lounge called Mynt and it’s promise to give you the best night of your life. Anyone who’s been around Miami or the nightlife scene can tell you that it is near impossible to keep a nightclub or lounge running for more than a couple years, much less over a decade. Amazingly enough, Mynt Lounge has managed to do just that, and as we celebrate the success of an astonishing 13 years in business, we can’t help but reflect on what it is that has made this lounge not only successful, but one of the most sought after nightlife destinations in the world.
After jetting around the world with a thriving modeling career, current owner Romain Zago decided to make Miami his new home. It was through a mutual friend and mentor, John Casablancas, that Zago was introduced to former Mynt owner, Roberto Caan, and began his journey to soon owning one of Miami’s biggest nightlife hotspots. Believe it or not, Romain Zago has actually done it all at Mynt. Initially starting as a bartender, Zago quickly moved on to work every single position and aspect in order learn the business in its entirety. He noticed that there was that little extra something missing from the venue to keep it fun and exciting, and fortunately his ideas were endless. He launched the very first Batucada Carnival Event, began to seek out live bands, designed special edition t-shirts, hosted contests, specialty cocktails, the works. “It was indeed the perfect platform for me to develop the right set of skills and a time for me to climb the latter of success.”

Romain Zago, Owner of MyntI don’t really like to distinguish celebrities from whoever steps into the venue anymore. I want them to experience the same Mynt others do, I want them to dance their heart off and feel the heat of Miami.

After he took over in 2006 and officially signed the deal in February 2007, Zago quickly began to tackle the improvements needed to truly distinguish the lounge from other nightlife spots and help it continue to flourish. With his first hand experience he was able to really see what exactly it was that Mynt needed to do in order to take it to the next level and really “wow” Miami. First and foremost, working on not only the proficiency of the staff, but the relationship with its patrons. “I saw the opportunity of growing Mynt into a venue that would provide the perfect, most sincere and friendly persona-to-persona relationship,” says Zago.
Also, one of the most unique traits Zago brought to the lounge was introducing a new, alluring design of the space, each year. Zago finds that the yearly renovations is the lounge’s way of respecting its customers experience and their way of rewarding them with a top-notch, new design. The hope is to give party goers a breath of fresh air and the exciting feeling of stepping into a new club, with the same good old disco vibes.
What’s refreshing about Mynt is that the lounge takes a back seat from headlining the latest DJ’s and big names in favor of focusing on the crowd and vibe as a whole. Whether you’re a regular or a potential new admirer, it’s no secret that Mynt opts to use local resident DJ’s to set the tone for the night in lieu of world famous DJ’s, separating itself from the mass and proving to be a constant supporter of all things Miami.
Of course, they have definitely been known to have the biggest celebrities come through their doors, but that doesn’t mean they are the “it” of the night. “I want them to experience the same Mynt others do, I want them to dance their heart off and feel the heat of Miami.” Mynt nowadays is much more than a lounge or club, it’s a meeting point, it’s a destination where you know you will have a good time, where you can find a soul mate, a smile, a friend, an old face, a socialite, a person that actually could financially weigh more than a country, and that person is right there next to you, as humble as you are, just focusing on having a good time and dancing the night away.
It has truly been incredible to witness this Miami nightlife hotspot thrive for so long in a city where it is almost unheard of. We asked Zago if he could pinpoint a distinct, favorite memory from his time at Mynt thus far and although he says there are far too many unforgettable nights, his favorite is always New Year’s Eve. “There’s nothing like Mynt-ing to start the year fresh, happy and thankful,” says Zago. The mark of the 13th anniversary is a true milestone and something to truly be celebrated. “Mynt is the longest reign of a VIP nightclub in Miami Beach History. No one can proudly say they broke this record more than I do.” exclaims Zago.
So with over a decade of success and providing guests with the ultimate nightlife destination, what could possibly be next for Mynt? “I foresee another 15 to 20 years of Mynt in this city and who knows by then if I don’t transform it into a museum of astonishing and everlasting memories,” say Zago. When asking him if he plans to expand this hotspot to other cities and countries he doesn’t elaborate, but can confirm that Mynt will most definitely expand to other cities luring more and more to their ultra-exclusive haven.
From a team that has been there and seen it all it has certainly been exciting to watch how Mynt has evolved, grown and more importantly stayed true to its target: the simple concept of getting people to have a good time and create everlasting memories.
