Miami Beach, FL – September 26, 2014 – After a decade in Wynwood, David Castillo Gallery inaugurated its new Lincoln Road location on Friday evening bringing out a slew of Miami’s art enthusiasts and collectors. Guests spent the evening mixing and mingling throughout the inaugural exhibition “Amerika,” which includes work by major art world figures such as Lyle Ashton Harris, Sanford Biggers, Huma Bhabha, Christian Marclay, Nick Cave, David Wojnarowicz, Rafael Ferrer, Kate Gilmore, Luis Gispert, Shinique Smith, among others. It was an extra special evening as half of the gallery’s represented artists were able to join in on the fete, most of whom reside in NY. Notables in attendance include Bonnie Clearwater, director of Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art; Christian Larsen, Curator Wolfsonian Museum; Jose Diaz, Curator Bass Museum, as well as dealers Evelyn Aimis, Adriana Vergara, and Dorit Arad. Collectors at the soiree included Marty Margulies, Claudio and Beatriz Giardinella, Dennis and Debra Scholl, Lizzy Dascal, Lily Amiguet, Oscar and Carole Seikaly, Anna Ezratti, Robert Crane and Shirley Munoz, among others.
