Miami, FL – September 20, 2014 – Over 500 guests made their way to Mandarin Oriental Miami on Saturday evening for the lavish, “Sponsor An Athlete” Gala. The “Sponsor An Athlete” Gala provides an opportunity for Special Olympics Florida-Miami Dade County to recognize our most incredible athletes, coaches, volunteers and community partners in Miami-Dade County all while raising awareness and funds for the county program that serves over 3500 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Nasif Ali is this year’s recipient of the “Athlete of the Year” award as he was the only Special Olympics athlete to have completed The Miami Half Marathon. Throughout the soiree, guests enjoyed music from live bands as well as delicious deserts from LA Sweets and savory cocktails from an on-site Bacardi mojito lounge.
