LYCRA Celebrates Design: 10 Years of Swim

Miami Beach, FL – July 19, 2014 – LYCRA®, one of the most influential global brands in fiber, celebrated design with the 10 Years of Swim Award this past Saturday at the Raleigh Hotel in correspondence with Mercedes Benz-Fashion Week Swim. The evening commenced under the stars with a lavish cocktail reception on the penthouse terrace. Guests then made their way inside for a special presentation by Invista, owner of the LYCRA® fiber brand, which unveiled the LYCRA® MOVES YOU initiative celebrating Comfort, Freedom and Movement. Following the presentation the excitement kicked into full gear with a “walk-off” competition to crown the 10 Years of Swim Award to one of the 10 nominated designers. The designers were asked to select a suit from their previous collections over the past 10 years that included innovative use of Lycra Xtra Life fiber in their swimsuit design along with creative design elements and technical construction of the swimsuit. After all the models had made their case on the runway, a distinguished panel of judges from WWD, IMG, Invista, The Miami Herald, and Lucky Magazine crowned CM Cia. Maritima as the winner. CM Cia. Maritima received the grand prize of a complimentary show venue at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim next July 2015, as well as a complimentary fabric with LYCRA® XTRA LIFE fiber to use for the creation of their next line.
