Miami Beach, FL – February 13, 2014 – A Grammy win and a call from Miley Cyrus. Not a bad way to start off 2014. Following his recent Grammy win for “Summertime Sadness,” Cedric Gervais is on the radar of not only those in the Electronic Dance Music world, but in the pop world as well. After meeting at LIV, Miley called Cedric up and proposed a collaborative remix of the downtempo single, “Adore You,” released from her hit album “Bangerz.” Gervais transformed the ballad into a dance worthy club track that transcends to a whole new audience that’s looking for a drop with a soft side.
Since his hit “Molly” took over the EDM world in 2012, Gervais’ career has taken off and really put him on the map. Formerly known for playing Miami hotspots, Cedric Gervais is surely becoming known worldwide and this is just the beginning. Here Gervais talks future plans, life after his Grammy win, and how he intrigued Miley herself.
How did Miley get ahold of you and approach you?
It was great, she reached out to me and we talked about the track, I told her how much I loved the original and that I had a great idea for it. It was very different than doing the Summertime Sadness remix as Miley knows what she wants. We went back and forth while I was recording it to make sure we were both happy. Miley doesn’t have remixes usually so I was really pleased that she wanted me to do it.
Did she give you any input for the track or did you have free reign?
She was very much part of the process, I told her my idea, she loved it and we continued talking until it was right.
Did you work together in the studio at all?
No we didn’t. We met at LIV in Miami and that’s where we started getting into the ideas.
Has your Grammy win brought in a lot of new collaborations?
I’m still trying to get used to the fact that I won it, but since winning I’ve definitely noticed it’s having a really positive effect on everything. I’m enjoying the moment and working very hard, touring and writing and it’s just made me even more determined to succeed.
Do you see “Adore You” taking off like “Summertime Sadness” did?
Of course I would love for that to happen but who knows, the track is going down really well when I play it out so that’s a good start. It’s getting some great feedback so lets keep working and see where it ends up.

How do you think your take on the song enhanced it?
I think the original is beautiful so I’ve not enhanced it I’ve just created a different version, a high energy version for the dance floor and hopefully radio might like it too.
Why did this song translate to EDM so well?
It’s a great vocal, great melody.
You’re bringing main stream pop songs to the clubs, how does it feel that people are really embracing it?
I’ll continue to do cross over tracks like this as well as straight up dance floor club tracks, I love to be able to be in both worlds; it’s exciting.
Will we see Miley join you in the booth/on stage at some point?
That’d be something special, you best ask her.
What song or artist would you like to turn into another Grammy winner next?
I would like to win a Grammy for a Cedric Gervais single …that is the next goal.
