South Beach Ruins
Liberty Avenue and 21st Street.
They are the shells of Miami Beach’s past and the outline of its future. Walking around the Collins Avenue area, you’ll see endless construction on buildings of yesterday. They are anything but abandoned buildings, though. Instead, think of them as works in progress. Rumors of hoteliers with a knack for what’s cool nabbing up the spaces and turning them into glamorized South Beach hotspots linger through the muck and mire of the remains. For instance, the Kaskade is slated to become part of the Gale and will be dubbed “Suites at Kaskade.” No one knows for sure just yet what will become of the Claremont and it’s crumbing siblings, but rest assure in due time these remnants will see their glory days again.
