Miami, FL – October 26,2013 – It’s one thing to walk into a gallery and purchase a piece of art. But it’s another ballgame altogether to face off against a room full of people vying for the same piece. On a cool October night, art enthusiasts and collectors gathered at Locust Projects to race for the prize—the prize being more than 120 works of art donated to the gallery for its annual Smash & Grab fundraiser. Eagerly awaiting their names to be drawn, participants eyeballed their first choice, hoping to nab it by placing their name on the piece before someone called ahead of them got the chance. With artists like Typoe, Justin Beal, Emmett Moore, Tracy Goodman, Felice Grodin and Sinisa Kukec sharing their works for the cause this year, it was a dual worth watching. The funds from Smash & Grab go toward Locust Projects, which supports local artists. And the art acquired during Smash & Grab becomes the much talked about conversation piece at the winner’s home.
