Funkshion Celebrates 25 Years

Miami Beach, FL – October 18, 2013 – Miami, a known fashionable city, got that much more stylish last week when Funkshion Fashion Week Miami Beach presented its 25^th season. During the shows, Fashion Group International held its awards ceremony, where Funkshion Fashion Week Miami Beach and its co-founder Sale Stojanovic and designer Gustavo Cadile were awarded. Following the ceremony was a show, where Gustavo Cadile presented his collection.

As part of the week of fashionable events, the 2013 Miami Red Dress Fashion Show, featuring red dresses from brands and designers like Perry Ellis, Club Monaco, Filomena Fernandez and Rent the Runway worn by celebrities like Miami housewife Karent Sierra, designer and TV personality Adriana Castro, actress Cynthia Olavarria, TV personalities Candela Ferro, Jeannette Kaplun, Claudia Molina, Andrea Minski, Gaby Acuña, Daniela Digiacomo along with Mariana Rodriguez.

Says Stojanovic, “Funkshion Fashion Week Miami is thrilled to have celebrated our 25^th season last week. One the many highlights of the week was the Red Dress Show presented by the American Heart Association. Heart disease is the number one killer of women. We treasure the opportunity to create as much awareness as possible and raise money for the fight against this disease.”

Some of his other favorites included Traver Rains (partner with Richie Rich of Heatherette) and Nick Verreos (who starred in the second season of Project Runway) doing his Nikolaki show. “A major week of shows to say the least. A great line-up to celebrate XXV Funkshion,” Stojanovic says.

As to why Funkshion is important to Miami, Stojanovic says this, “We bring the top designers from around the world to showcase in Miami Beach, and we lure them in using Miami Beach as a backdrop for their photo shoots, look books, catalogs, etc. We even have some designers come and love Miami Beach so much that they open stores and showrooms here. We also bring lot of magazines that end up doing photo shoots, so in the end, we help promote Miami Beach as a one of top fashion destinations in the world.”
