Fernando Mastrangelo

Miami, FL – October 7-8, 2013 – An inaugural show is one not to be forgotten, such was the case on October 7, when Kowal+Odermatt hosted a dinner in conjunction with Cultured Magazine for the launch of its exhibition Medallions from sculptor Fernando Mastrangelo. The show runs through October 29 and features sculptures as they relate to an ancient tradition of the people of the Aztec and later Mayan cultures, where deities were presented with gifts like Mastrangelo’s medallions. In his work, Mastrangelo used traditional materials and integrated modern-day staples, like corn, coffee and sugar. Kowal+Odermatt brings exciting artists to Miami as part of its artist-in-residency program that invites exceptional emerging and recognized artists from all over the world to work in the Wynwood Art District and be guided by founder Isabelle Kowal.
