Miami Museum Month: Vizcaya
Miami, FL – May 29, 2013 – As the days of May wind down this week, so does Miami Museum Month. In our last feature of the must-visit places that are offering buy one get one free admission, we give you a famous historical site: Vizcaya. The Vizcaya Museum & Gardens is actually a National Historic Landmark with a museum owned by Miami-Dade County. It was originally built by agricultural industrialist James Deering in 1916 and spans ten acres of formal gardens with a rockland hammock native forest and a main house on the water. The site has been beautifully maintained and still retains its old world feel. Most recently, Vizcaya has a role in the new Iron Man 3 movie. It plays the part of the mansion of the evil “Mandarin,” with many scenes shot on location here in Miami last fall, including a fight scene with Iron Man on the stone steps of the Casino in the formal gardens. From now through Friday (the last day of May), head over and check out Vizcaya’s indoor and outdoor exhibits from 9:30am to 4:30pm with the BOGO Museum Month special. Step into the enchanting gardens and learn about an important part of Miami’s history.
