The Flat Grand Opening
Miami Beach, FL – April 17, 2013 – Miami has just gotten a brand new arrival in the South of Fifth neighborhood by the name of The Flat. This cocktail lounge brings a new concept to South Beach as the first “before experience” to hit the scene. One of the co-owners is Cedric Adegnika, who’s been in the nightlife industry for more than 15 years as one of the main guys at the velvet ropes of the hottest Miami spots. He’s joined forces with Barbara Zuccarelli to give Miami Beach a destination to have it all- great cocktails, food, and music. Of anyone, Adegnika knows that nightlife doesn’t get started until late, so now there’s the ideal pre-party spot. The Flat is a cocktail lounge that’s open every night from 7pm until it closes, which can be pretty late on weekends. So you can stop in for a drink before dinner, a light bite before hitting the clubs, or a nightcap before going to bed. Step inside with us and get a look at The Flat if you haven’t already checked it out for yourself.
Since “flats” are what the British refer to as small apartments or homes, The Flat was designed to have a modern yet homey feel. It’s as if you’re being invited into someone’s flat for cool cocktails and a bite to eat, that could easily turn into hours of conversation and lounging because it’s such a cozy spot.
The Flat has its own stunning white grand piano with a pop art portrait of the infamous musician Ray Charles.
It’s apparent that there’s a big emphasis on music here, and Musical Director JP Rigaud is setting the vibe with a wide variety of programming. Everything from bossa nova to deep indie to new jazz will be featured on a nightly basis.
The live music will give way to DJs after 10pm on weekends, putting a spin to the chill sounds.
The grand opening featured singer Rosalyn McClore at the piano.
All the artwork inside The Flat was selected by owners Adegnika and Zuccarelli themselves.

The Flat’s Executive Chef Giuseppe “Beppe” Galazzi serves verrines- a European style of artfully layering ingredients in a small glass. Opening night showed off the four signature verrines- a stracciatella cheese with heirloom tomatoes, basil and crunchy prosciutto, a quinoa salad with avocado, and broccoli sprouts, a spicy tuna with red pepper dressing, mango and watercress, and a dessert one of fresh strawberries and mascarpone cream.
Chef Beppe has created 12 salty and sweet individually portioned creations sure to satisfy any craving and pair perfectly with the cocktails.
Each cocktail uses high quality bitters, fresh herbs, seasonal juices, imported ingredients, and house made syrups to make up the special creations.
The Flat’s lead mixologist is Egor Polonskiy, who combines his extensive knowledge of each spirit with his creativity and well-polished bartending skills for an entertaining cocktail menu with more than 40 selections.
The Carrera marble bar is set in front of a vintage bar back library stocked with aged and exotic liquors and antique bar trinkets.
The Flat’s layout is ideal for socializing in a casual setting with the furniture arranged like a living room, and everyone feeling the warmth and community of the new neighborhood spot.
