Esperanza Spalding

Miami, FL – April 19, 2013 – The stunning 28 year-old jazz musician Esperanza Spalding gave a captivating performance on Friday night at the Adrienne Arsht Center. The one-night-only show was part of the Live at Knight concert series inside the acoustically-refined Knight Concert Hall at the Arsht. Spalding made her solo debut in 2006, and has since been applauded for her fusion of jazz, neo-soul, and world music as a talented bassist, vocalist, and composer. In 2011, she was the first jazz musician to win the Best New Artist Grammy Award, one of the biggest accomplishments of her musical career.

Spalding performed at the Arsht Center in 2010 for President Obama’s fundraiser, and returned for the first time since to showcase her multi-talented style on Friday night. She performed the compositions off her new release, Radio Music Society, which features her 12-piece world class band where Spalding takes the electric bass, double bass, and lead vocals. Each of her 12 songs were accompanied by music videos to further express her inspiration and story behind each track, making for an all around incredibly impressive and dynamic show.
